Chungcheongbuk-do Cultural Heritage No.80, Commemorative Stele for the Construction of Uhwagyo Bridge, Danyang
This Commemorative Stele for the Construction of Uhwagyo Bridge, Danyang, was erected in the 29th year of the King Yeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty (1753) by Lee Gi-Jung, who served as the governor of Danyang. It was established to commemorate the Uhwagyo, a stone bridge built across the Danyangcheon Stream. Subsequently, the bridge was lost in a major flood, and only the monument remains today. The monument is made of granite, measuring 115 cm in height, 58 cm in width, and 16 cm in thickness. Based on the content of the inscription, it is evident that this monument was erected in the year following the construction of the stone bridge, in the 30th year of King Yeongjo (1754).
