A place with the sound of art Danyang Hyanggyo

단양향교

Located in a charming village where houses are closely clustered, Danyang Hyanggyo stands with its splendid presence. Scholars fathered, facing each other closely, in a picturesque setting.

Established in the 15th year of King Taejong of the Joseon Dynasty, Danyang Hyanggyo was relocated to its current location in Sangbang-ri, Danseong-myeon, by the Confucian scholar Toegye Yi-Hwang during the reign of King Myeongjong. Since then, it has undergone several reconstructions.

Until the Joseon era, it was a place where 30 students studied, but after the Gabo Reform, it has only held the Seokjeon Daeje, a ritual conducted in spring and autumn.

- Classification: Hyanggyo (Confucian school)
- Designated Date: December 26, 1981
