Situated against a large mountain with vast fields stretching endlessly in front, Yeongchun Hyanggyo resembles a tranquil place where one can embody the leisurely lifestyle of a scholar who has descended from official duties to enjoy the freedom of nature.
Established in the 1st year of King Jeongjong of the Joseon Dynasty (1399), it suffered destruction during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War) and was relocated to Namcheon-ri in the 6th year of King Gwanghaegun (1614). After another fire incident, it settled in its current location in the 15th year of King Jeongjo (1791).
