If you look at it from the south, its ridge looks like a person lying down. The mountain was originally named "Baekamsan Mountain," but it became known as "Geumsusan Mountain"* when Toegye Yi Hwang, who was the governor of Danyang, said that the mountain's appearance was so fine and beautiful that it looked like it was embroidered with silk.
* Geum: silk; su: embroidery.

It's cool to see Geumsusan from the river on a cruise ship, but another way to experience its charm is to climb the mountain. Starting from the Sanghak parking lot in Jeokseong-myeon, you can experience the mysterious nature of Hanyangji, an ice cave that freezes even in the middle of summer, and Yongso, a spring that consistently gushes water even in the rainy season and drought. From the summit, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and the wide, blue waters of Chungjuho Lake.
