A hidden peak in the Sobaek Mountains, Suribong Peak

수리봉

Suribong Peak (1,019m) is a peak on the ridge of the Sobaek Mountains east of Bangok-ri in Daegang-myeon. Although it is not well known to many hikers, its hiking thrills are no less than other mountains. In addition to hiking, Suribong Peak is a mountain where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of Sangseonam Rock, Jungseonam Rock, Haseonam Rock, and Sainam Rock, which are the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang.

Bangok-ri, the starting point of the hike, is famous as a pottery village. It is even called a mountain that was created to make pottery, as it has all the necessary materials for pottery production. It is mainly used to make pottery for the common people and is also exported overseas.

Banggok-ri is so isolated that it feels like a world of its own, and in Jangseungmaeul Village, where the old pottery market once stood, a pair of old Jangseungs (Totem poles) keep watch over the old stories of the people here.
